San Antonio Office Receives Honor |
By Isaac Kadane, Executive DirectorEach year, the San Antonio Bar Association recognizes a company for its outstanding service to the elderly in the San Antonio community. Officially titled the "Distinguished Service to Elders Award" many companies work to achieve this honor. Recipients in the past have included large banks and financial institutions. This year, the San Antonio branch of SeniorBridge received the prestigious honor. The President of the Elder Law Section of the San Antonio Bar, Lisa Smith, informed us that we were the singular recipient of this annual award for 2009. In her announcement, Ms. Smith stated that “SeniorBridge was the only company that every single attorney in the room agreed, hands down, should win the award." The nomination was initiated by Kelly Cross, an elder law attorney with whom the San Antonio branch has a close working relationship. In her nomination Ms. Cross stated that "SeniorBridge gathered several of their professional employees, had them attend training sessions on how to perform court visitations for our judges and now they perform free court visitations on a monthly basis. No other company has thought to volunteer their employees for this program and their impact is going to make a big difference for everyone involved." The purpose of the court visitation program is to help the judges assure that public guardians have guidance in providing the maximum plan of care for their wards, through the recommendations provided by experienced volunteers. The attorneys noted several positive outcomes that have occurred from SeniorBridge's community involvement. The award was presented at a luncheon in our honor, and Isaac Kadane, Executive Director, and Nancy Ortiz, Senior Care Manger, attended to accept this honor. A permanent plaque acknowledging SeniorBridge’s contribution will forever hang in the doorway of the city's court house, to be seen by millions. We are truly honored by this recognition!
